    Ranger Nick's Fishing Report

June 4, 2008
Welcome Back to Ranger Nick's Fishing Report
Lake Monroe has been pretty much flooded all year, with water reaching levels as high as 17 feet above pool and almost going over the emergency spillway all the way back down to 9ft a few weeks ago. The lake is around 12 feet above pool right now but Bloomington was slammed today with some of the worst flooding it has seen in years. The bass fishing had started to pick up with the Bass spawning when these storms came through. What will this do to the fishing is still up in the air, but the lake should show some drastic changes over the next several days. At this point, Cutright and Pine Grove Ramps are still not accessable. The high water ramp at Cutright is open but may be under water by the weekend. All other ramps are open but some are difficult to use due to the high water.
Wiper and Walleye fishing has been decent for those who are trolling, especially near Hardin Ridge and down near the dam areas. There have been good reports of wiper action in Moore's creek, but nothing in the last few days.
Crappie fishing has been decent near the flooded brush and bushes, most anglers report using minnows and small tubes to entice some really nice crappie. No reports of good bluegill action have been turned in.
Not much to report on the catfishing, I have seen several catfish being caught and have heard of a lot being caught up in the flooded timber and bushes all over the lake, but nothing specific.

Lake Lemon has been pretty decent all year with very good reports of Crappie and Bass being taken all over the lake. The crappie fishing has been best on minnows and small crankbaits and they still seem to be biting fairly decent. The bass were spawning and some real nice fish have been caught fishing texas rigged and carolina rigged lizards and brushhogs on the deeper end of the lake, while spinnerbaits and chatterbaits seem to be working well in the shallows. No reports on the Catfish on Lake Lemon as of yet, but I am sure they are feeding along both causeways.

Cataract Lake/ Cagles Mill reservoir was down to around 7feet above pool and fishing was really starting to shape up, but there again with all the rain and flooding I would look for it to rise fast and change the patterns. Spinnerbaits and worms rigged wacky style seemed to be working well just before the rains.

That wraps up this week and hopefully you can find some decent fish wherever your fishing, if you run into something you would like to share or if you are looking to book a trip, just drop me an email at Rangernick@rangernick.com. Be safe with all the storms blowing through and I will try to keep up the reports for all of you.
Good Fishin',
Ranger Nick
